Eligibility
Overview
- A person with all relatives ‘settled’ in Australia may be sponsored for the 'remaining relative' visa by a close relative in Australia.
Sponsor
- An eligible parent or step-parent, sibling or step-sibling, or an eligible partner of the applicant relative must sponsor the applicant.
Near relatives
The Applicant will not grant this visa if:
- The applicant or the applicant's partner have a near relative who usually live outside Australia, or
- The applicant or the applicant's partner have a near relative who live in Australia on a temporary visa (and are not an Eligible New Zealand citizen) or unlawfully. Temporary visas include bridging visas.
Assurance of Support
- The applicant need to have an Assurance of Support.
The health and character requirements
- All the applicants (including family members) must meet the health and character requirements.
Debt to the Australian Government
- The applicants (including family members) must not have any debt to the Australian Government.
Visa cancelled or a previous application refused
- While the applicant were in Australia and If their visa cancelled or visa application have been refused then they might not be eligible for this visa.
Australian values statement
- The applicant who are 18 years of age or older must have read, or had explained to them, the Life in Australia and sign an Australian Values Statement.
Best interests of the child
- The applicant might not grant this visa if it is not in the best interests of an applicant under 18.
