CONTRIBUTORY PARENT VISAS Subclass 143 173, 864 & 884

•  The 173 and 143 visas are available to parents of any age who are outside of Australia.

• An eligible child over 18 must sponsor their parents otherwise  an eligible relative or community organisation can be a sponsor for their visa.

• The applicant must meet the balance-of-family test.  

• All the applicants (including family members) must meet the health and character requirements.

• The applicants (including family members) must not have any debt to the Australian Government.

• While the applicant  were in Australia and If their visa cancelled or visa application have been refused then they  might not be eligible for this visa.

The applicants who are 18 years of age or older, they must:

• have read, or had explained to you, the Life in Australia
•  sign an Australian Values Statement that confirms you will respect the Australian way of life and obey Australian laws.

• The applicant might not grant this visa if it is not in the best interests of an applicant under 18.

•  The applicant must be outside Australia when DIBP decide the application. 

• The applicant need to have an Assurance of Support, unless he or she are applying for the Retirement Pathway.

•  The 884 and 864 visas are only available to aged parents onshore [except for holders of ‘substituted 600 visas’], who are not subject to the 8503 No Further Stay visa condition or to s.48 of the Migration Act.
